Gum treatment

What is gum treatment?

Gum treatment involves the removal of hardened bacteria in gum pockets deep beneath the surface. The 'solid plaque' or tartar, are stuck firmly on the tooth roots and cannot be removed by routine scaling and cleaning.

Before we begin gum treatment, we will numb the gums with computer-controlled numbing so the process is comfortable and painless for you.

Anatomically designed, ultrasonic instruments which are gentle on dentine but tough on tartar, are used in gum pockets to safely remove the bacteria. The clean root surface then allows the gums to 'stick' back on the tooth.

In severe cases, gum disease may require further gum surgery or grafting for management.
